As we now are onboarding companies we get a lot of questions and suggestions from our clients.
1- choice of hinges and parts
To avoid painful assembly and costs it seems to be a good idea to develop a system where almost no assembly is needed. A titanium lightweight temple goes perfectly with a light 3D printed front. If you design it so it does not need screws or a lot of effort to assembly you might have a winner. We can help you with our preprogrammed cutouts for most of the suitable hinges for 3D printing. We have figured out Redtenbacher, OBE, Ideal and other brands. We also have special solutions that we developed in house. Of course, a 3D printed hinge is also possible.
2- cost of print
We are cheaper than most mono color solutions. Our full color nylon prints get color during printing from the inside out. No dying, spraying, hydro dipping or else. This makes the parts extremely scratch proof and color designs can be complex.
You might want to design eyewear with fronts only. This will reduce the cost by half and the look of mixed materials can be attractive.
3- Color textures
Our full color nylon prints look very nice with natural textures or complex patterns. This makes the appearance luxurious and customers will be willing to pay more for the product. Often our clients just want unicolor. Although this is possible it might be a missed opportunity. We recommend to use monocolor with a material look and feel. For example, yellow cotton instead of yellow paint. Or blue marble… Or go out and make a great snap shot of a brick wall. The color tone can be changed with software to make variants. Our team of designers and color specialists can advice you or make beautiful color materials.
4- Think out of the box when designing
Tech Print Industries has a team of 3D eyewear designers. If you dream it we can make it. Sometimes you want a simple design because that is just your target customer. But special designs that are easy to wear can add a lot of value to your product. We can create designs by sculpting or hard lines with CAD. Because of our special software the correct optometric parametric values are always applied to a design. It will have the right lens groove, base curve, pantoscopic tilt and everything required to make that perfect eyewear for your customer.
If you are a talented 3D designer we love to work with you and produce that quality full color 3D print. Reach out and become part of our designers collective.
5- Local production and sustainability is the future
We produce in Holland and the US so costly transportation and MOQ is avoided. Help us create a better world without big production waste. The eyewear industry needs innovation.
6- Better comfort and less issues
If the functional design is perfect, our 3D printed full color parts will be more durable then most traditional materials. It is extremely lightweight an flexible. Because we print the color inside out there is no risk of scratching. Discoloration is not a risk and the material properties stay the same when wearing the product over time.
7- Create your identity
As a brand owner you need to create your own look. Full color 3D printing is perfect for this. Together we can design something unique. In material color or shape. We have a library of shapes that we can use to create something beautiful and commercial interesting.
